    PortCheck tool updated

Mike Volodarsky has updated his PortCheck tool to version 2.0. The tool is simple, but quick to troubleshoot connections against web sites.

The idea behind PortCheck was simple – help diagnose the common “page cannot be displayed” or “server not found” errors that could result from a number of network connectivity, or service availability issues.

    MS Web Deployment Tool

Microsoft has released a long awaited tool!!
The Microsoft Web Deployment Tool (MSDeploy) has a lot of the functionality of the “old” AppCenter, such as deploy content, sync site and server configurations and it seems to be released for free. It’s currently released in Technical Preview 1.

The tool supports moving configuration, content, SSL certificates and other types of data associated with a web server. You can choose to sync a single site or the entire web server.

The goal of the tool is to help you keep servers in sync, to make deployment easier and also to help with migrating to new versions of IIS. You could use a sync on two machines in a web farm, for example. Or maybe you need to move to a new server of the same version, you can use this tool. Of course, we also enable you to do a migration from IIS 6.0 to 7.0.

Features of MS Web Deploy Tool:

    • Synchronization and Snapshot of IIS 6.0/IIS 7.0
    • Migration from IIS 6.0
    • Analysis of IIS 6.0 Installed Features
    • Troubleshooting and Validation Features

It’s available for download in x86 version and x64 version (Technical Preview 1).
