OCS install – Failure [0x80070005] Access is denied

Failure [0x80070005] Access is denied is a known error during the install of OCS.

Reason: The installing user does not have the appropriate permissions to install OCS.

Ensure that the installing user is a member of the following security groups:

  • Domain Admins
  • RTCUniversalServerAdmins

      Hi

      Yes, make sure your administrator account is a member of the following security groups:
      - Domain Admins
      - RTCUniversalServerAdmins

    Getting the same error, though my user object is already in the domain admins group and the RTCUniversalServerAdmins.
    Stumped, as every bit of documentation lists just this as the fix. Tried under a different user with membership to the same 2 security groups. same error. Thank you for your time.

    I’m having the same problem. I have tried everything suggested in all online articles. Any solution anyone? Thanks a lot for all the much needed help found in forums like this!!

    Hi Morten

    Did you check the security groups ?

    make sure your administrator account is a member of the following security groups:
    - Domain Admins
    - RTCUniversalServerAdmins

    Run the command prompt as administrator AND be member of the 2 security groups. I just had the same problem and this solved it.
