Hi everyone!
I have given my blog (www.msdigest.net) a major update. It has been updated with a new theme. The new WordPress theme should give you a better overview of my posts and better view, when reading my posts.
I have also had problems with the old RSS feeds, previously handled by Feedburner (now purchased by Google).
So if any of you used to RSS feed my site, please update you feeds, as the old Feedburner RSS does not work anymore.
New RSS feed links are:
I hope you like my site and the makeover and will come back or even RSS feed it.
Any feedback are welcome.
Happy New Year to everyone!
MS Digest (www.msdigest.net) (Formerly known as IIS Digest (www.iis-digest.com) has now been online for 5 years by now, amazing as time flies. Looking back 2009 was an exciting year, especially with products from Microsoft, such as Exchange 2010, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. In 2010 we can look forward to Office 2010 and OCS next gen (UC wave 14, properly 2010 as well). For myself it’s been an exciting year as well, with the archival of Microsoft Certified Master in Exchange 2007.
I hope everyone still like my site, MS Digest should still be worth visiting in 2010.
Happy New Year to everyone!
MS Digest (www.msdigest.info) (Formerly known as IIS Digest (www.iis-digest.com) has now been online for 4 years by now. Looking back 2008 was an exciting year, especially with IIS 7.0 and all the exiting modules for IIS 7 and Windows Server 2008.
I hope everyone still like my site, MS Digest should still be worth visiting in 2009.
Upgraded my blog to WordPress 2.6 yesterday and encountered an issue with permalinks not working anymore.
Apparently this is a wellknown issue, especially when you host your WordPress blog on Windows and use permalinks with the index.php in the link, then the permalinks may fail.
I found a few solutions to this, the first one was to change some of the php files and the second was to add some text into the Category base and tag base within the admin console. I went for the second solution, since it seemed must simple and adding the settings worked for me.
Here’s what I found of solutions on the issue:
1. PHP file change
2. Category base and Tag base solution (the simple one)
WordPress are working on it and the fix is included in the upcoming version 2.6.1.
I have done some major changes to my blog today. It’s been optimized with some changes to my theme and migrated to the latest version of WordPress and a new server running IIS 7.0.
With WordPress 2.5 the links will now be more SEO friendly. For anyone who might be interested in what I have done, the changes done are:
- Upgrade to latest version of WordPress (2.51)
- Minor changes to the theme, should still be quite user friendly – I hope you all agree
- Added Tags functionality to the blogs
- Migrated the blog to a server running IIS 7.0 and PHP
I hope you all find this an improvement to both performance and the blog in general. If you experience any issues you are most welcome to write me (peter AT iis-digest DOT com), and I will make sure to fix it.
Happy New Year to everyone!
