Mart Muller has done a nice post about a comparison document on SharePoint 2003 vs 2007 from Microsoft.
Via Steve Caravajal and Shane, I ran into a great Excel sheet with a very detailed comparison between SharePoint 2003 and 2007 features:
- Windows SharePoint Services v3
- SharePoint Portal Server 2003
- Office SharePoint 2007 for Search
- Office Forms Server 2007
- Office SharePoint Server 2007 Standard CAL – MOSS Standard
- Office SharePoint Server 2007 Enterprise CAL or for Internet Site

Microsoft has released a Technical Refresh of Office 2007 Beta 2.
Besides some (hopefully) useful updates, it also now supports Vista RC1
The update should be located here according to the Office Preview site and the now separate download for “Save as PDF / XPS” can be found here, but if you want the Office 2007 System TR you need to look here. Notice the following warning before installing
IMPORTANT: Please read the update documentation, referenced in the “To install this download” section on this page, BEFORE applying this Beta 2 Technical Refresh update. The documents list several steps that you must complete prior to installation to ensure a successful update. This is NOT a single click update.
Microsoft has annonced a “One Place to Go For SharePoint IT Pros” at TechNet. Nice to have one or two entry point for SharePoint resources from Microsoft.

Ever needed a forum on SharePoint?
CodePlex has released an updated version (1.2) of their SharePoint Forums, which is a webpart for Windows SharePoint Services.
The SharePoint Forums Web Part is a free, open source, single web part that provides a more feature rich discussion board for SharePoint Portal Server and Windows SharePoint Services.
It provides threaded discussions which can be locked, hidden, secured, and subscribed to and offers typical features found in discussion boards like phpBB and ASP.NET Forums.
The Web Part is self-contained and will create/update it’s own hidden lists for storage, but otherwise looks like any discussion board out there today but integrated with SharePoint.

Mark Kruger (SharePoint MVP) has done a great job in aggregating resources for SharePoint and he has posted a more or less complete list of free 3rd party webparts and tools for SharePoint.
For those who aggregate my feed and do not often visit the blog iteself… I’ve updated my SharePoint links and their groupings on the blog (can only be seen by visiting) but I’ll update this post as well. The notable list of links include: FREE 3rd Party SharePoint Web Parts, SharePoint Tools, and SharePoint Resource Information.
Check his complete and updated list here.
